019 We Entertain Angels Unaware
Week 19 of 2024 found me looking at the son I’ve helped to raise since he was in elementary school. Unresponsive 10.5hrs away in a cold hospital room from a car accident. Learning that it will be the last time I see him is a feeling I can’t describe. So I won’t attempt to.
018 It Is OK to SHUTUP
Week 18 0f 2024 There are times when there are no words to say. Only thoughts and feelings. Both things that are not meant to be verbalized in the moment. I’m learning to hold these moments as sacred. They are so valuable in the building of character and perseverance. One word that I have always hated was “shutup”. Lol!
017 Find Your Peace
Week 17 of 2024 I visited an art festival this weekend and purchased an almost magical piece from Hoover, AL artist, Donna Martin (she doesn’t do social media). She glues little pieces of items from forrest onto her canvas and then paints beautiful abstract scenery.
016 We Never Save Ourselves, We Save Each Other
Week 16 of 2024 My criticisms of my community will never outweigh my contributions to my community. In this way I aim to always be a part of the solution and never the problem, and there are many problems in my community.
015 Own Your Narrative!
Week 15 of 2024 Until the lion learns to write, every story will glorify the hunter. An Africa proverb reminded me that there is something so satisfying about owning your own story. I’ve had several moments in my life where people spoke on my behalf and it has always bothered me. I accept that our reputations precede us, so can only pray that the life I live reflects in the messages that are given.
